Our opinion: Americans must speak out against violence | Editorial

“When can we use the weapons? “

This shocking question was raised Monday at a rally in Boise, Idaho, led by right-wing provocateur Charlie Kirk.

The speaker, who has not yet been identified, continued: “No, and I am not – it is not a joke. I’m not saying it like that. I mean, literally, where’s the line? How many elections will they fly before we kill these people? “

The crowd cheered and applauded the idea of killing fellow Americans on American soil.

Kirk’s response started off well: “I’m going to report this.

But he continued, “They are trying to provoke you and everyone here. They are trying to get you to do something violent that will justify a takeover of your freedoms and freedoms like we have never seen. “

So we have a few questions.

Who are they? “What exactly have they done to provoke the violence? Is it as much as those who promote former President Trump’s big lie of electoral fraud?

Kirk had the perfect opportunity to speak out against the use of violence for whatever reason – but, instead, he took the opportunity to keep the fires of hatred and resentment against “them” smoldering. Much like Trump did when he told the Proud Boys to “step back and be ready” for the January 6 insurgency.
