MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd has suggested that voters are wrong to believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if President Trump was still in office.
As Russia launches its attacks on Ukraine, many of President Biden’s critics have alleged that such an invasion would not have happened under the Trump presidency, pointing to the assault Putin has suffered under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama with the 2008 invasion of Georgia and the 2014 annexation of Crimea without taking similar steps during the previous administration.
The topic emerged during a panel discussion on Friday’s episode of “MTP: Daily.”
“There was this focus group – and it’s qualitative, not quantitative – where swing voters, Trump-Biden voters seem to buy into the idea that Putin wouldn’t have done this if Trump was president,” Todd said. to the Democratic strategist and former DNC spokesperson. Xochitl Hinojosa. “How does the Democratic Party respond to this?

Todd then went out of his way to vocally dismiss the idea that voters believe in the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
“I don’t believe it,” the MSNBC host pointed out. “I don’t think that makes sense, but voters do. It’s a matter of perception.”
Hinojosa initially responded by calling Trump’s image as president of the current international crisis “frightening.”
She went on to say that Democrats need to continue with the message that they are looking after “American interests” and emphasize Biden’s “leadership” on the world stage.
Earlier in the week, Todd fought for the Biden administration over how voters view the economy.
The Liberal host launched a poll which showed a majority of people think the economy is in a recession or depression, saying that was ‘simply not true’ and accusing the ‘echo chamber of right” for causing these opinions. He also accused Americans of not feeling “world first enough”.

“Fifty-one percent think the economy is in a recession or a depression. I mean, look, that’s just not true,” Todd exclaimed after NPR reporter Ayesha Rascoe claimed that Biden was unable, as president, to do anything about the rising inflation rates plaguing the country, citing a USA Today-Suffolk University poll.
“This economy is frustrating. This economy with COVID has been – I have money and I can’t find anything. But my god, there are jobs. There are good jobs,” he added. . “Is the right-wing echo chamber better than the Democratic echo chamber? Or is there something else missing here?”
Jen Palmieri, former White House communications director during the Obama administration, agreed with Todd and said Democrats didn’t just repeat what they were told to say, unlike Republicans. Republican strategist Matt Gorman pushed back, arguing what people felt was broader than just economic measures, citing staffing shortages and supply shortages.
