Media says Trump supporters unhappy with FBI raid threaten democracy

It’s amazing how the same can be seen by the media as a threat to democracy on the one hand, while being rightly encouraged by the White House on the other.

After the draft Roe v. Wade, pro-abortion protests erupted across the country, many of which took place at the homes of Supreme Court justices.

Former press secretary Jen Psaki inexcusably encouraged these protesters to continue, but her incitement was completely ignored by media who agreed with her sentiments.

Death threats against judges were common, but this didn’t seem to bother Psaki or the mainstream left-leaning media.

When the verdict was officially delivered, the protests only got worse, as many activists took up residence outside the homes of the Tory judges:

Now, after the politically motivated raid on Donald Trump’s Florida home, the media is extremely concerned about the former president’s supporters expressing their disappointment with the judge who signed him.

A new AP report details that US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart has faced the same threats judges like Clarence Thomas have faced for months.

According to the story, “Reinhart’s home address has been published on right-wing sites”, and the new focus on the judge marks a “dangerous” threat to the country’s “viability as a democracy”:

“Threats against Reinhart are part of a broader attack on law enforcement, particularly the FBI, by Trump and his allies following the raid. But experts warn that the focus on a judge , amid increasing threats to the justice system generally, is dangerous to the rule of law in the United States and the country’s viability as a democracy.

If this incredible hypocrisy weren’t enough, the head of the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Safety that judges like Reinhart “should not have to fear retaliation for doing their jobs”:

“Threats to judges carrying out their constitutional responsibilities strike at the very heart of our democracy,” said U.S. Second Circuit Judge Richard J. Sullivan, chairman of the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Security, in a statement. press release issued recently following the search. “Judges should not have to fear reprisals for doing their job.”

Of course, no one should face death threats, personal threats, or protests at their homes. But the media and former justices like Sullivan remained silent on “threats to democracy” when Supreme Court justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade were also targeted.

This is only a problem when protests and misconduct are not in the service of progressive and liberal causes.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot and Trump supporters are behaving inappropriately towards a leftist judge, there is an outcry in the media over the “viability of the country as a democracy”.

Democracy has become the new boogeyman of the left; a term that has been stripped of all meaning and used as a weapon to scare progressives into stories involving Trump or his supporters.

Their undeniable double standards are offensive both because of the political motivation for their outrage and because their hypocrisy is so blatant.

The media doesn’t even try to hide that they view the exact same behavior on the one hand as reprehensible and on the other as completely justifiable.

Sending death threats is never acceptable, no matter who they are against. But for liberal journalists, that kind of intellectual coherence is seemingly utterly impossible.
