Erik Ten Hag is the manager many Manchester United fans want at Old Trafford next season and beyond. The Mail reports that he is also Ralf Rangnick’s recommended choice.
While this is by no means a done deal, there are other businesses to be had beyond the manager, with a view to bringing in players to enable the new boss to implement his vision of success.
One way to help him is to sign one of his stars from Ajax, who has helped his side score over 100 goals this season and concede just 10. message to the rest of the United team.
Well, according to 90Min, Manchester United are among several top clubs eyeing Brazilian winger Antony.
The Brazilian would like to move to the Premier League and would prefer that to a move to Italy or Spain.
Should Ten Hag land a move to United, the Red Devils would have a clear advantage in signing Antony over rival interests from Liverpool and Chelsea, regardless of Champions League football.
Ten Hag was quoted by Football Oranje speaking to ESPN earlier this season, saying: “It’s clear he’s an incredible talent. He’s going through an unbelievably beautiful evolution. Especially if we play in the Champions League, then he is clear that it will be in the limelight and interesting for many clubs.
Why Antony is suitable for United
There are somewhat surprising questions about United’s options on the right wing, despite considerable investment in the position over the past two years.
This is due to several factors. First, Mason Greenwood’s situation saw him removed as an option.
Second, Jadon Sancho has been more effective on the left wing and that may be where his future lies. Amad and Facundo Pellistri remain “projects”, giving way to a new addition.
If Ten Hag is going to bring an Ajax player to Manchester United, it makes perfect sense to sign a top emerging talent who is only 21, whose development he has already started, and who can continue to help him reach the next level.
This season, the youngster has already scored 11 goals and provided six assists, including assists in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund and Sporting.
The winger is an exciting player whose career is just beginning, and he’s clearly one to watch ahead of the summer if United managed to sign Erik Ten Hag.
