Letter: Oklahoma Historical Society Suffers Major Loss | Letters to the Editor

First, thanks for the article about Governor Kevin Stitt not reappointing Karen Keith to the Oklahoma Historical Society board. Otherwise, longtime members of the historical society would not even have imagined that an organization we have supported for many years is at the mercy of this wicked man.

Keith has been a dedicated public servant and resident of Oklahoma her entire life. She began earning honors and achievements in high school, always bringing honor to our state.

She served on the board of the Oklahoma Historical Society for many years and will be greatly missed. But she is a democrat, a respected and successful woman. This combination particularly distressed Stitt, it seems.

Because the Historical Society Board of Directors has lost the diligent, selfless and loyal service of Keith, I no longer want to be part of this organization. I sent the historical society a letter of condolence and asked that my name be removed from the membership list.

At 91, I want to be in control of my choices and my personal rights, at least those that have not yet been usurped by the “almighty”. I hope I can still vote. I plan to do just that!
